Daniela Ruah plays the role of Junior Agent Kensi Blye on NCIS: Los Angeles. She has a birthmark on the iris of her right eye that makes it appear black. Her left eye is naturally hazel.
In an interview with the Daily News, Ruah discussed the discoloration in her eye that gives her smoldering gaze a unique look.
"It's a birthmark called nevus of Ota. It covers the whole white of my eye and darkens it," she said. "The square of the eye, the white part, is completely dark on my right eye, not just the iris. It's very common in Asian people but quite rare in Caucasians. It doesn't affect my vision."
NCIS: LOS ANGELES is a drama about the high-stakes world of a division of NCIS that is charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals that pose a threat to the nation's security.
Ruah has been playing the role of Agent Blye since 2009. The character first appeared on NCIS in the two part season 6 episode "Legend" and a 2011 episode of "Hawaii Five-0."
