While Petri Hawkins-Byrd has refused to reveal his salary, he is known as the world's richest bailiff with a net worth of $3.5 Million. Judge Judy’s bailiff is a paid actor. Because he was once a real bailiff in Sheindlin's courtroom, he got the job.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the estimated yearly salary for a bailiff as of May 2014 is $42,360.

Petri Hawkins-Byrd started working as a bailiff in the Brooklyn court system before moving to the Family Court in Manhattan. He began working for Judge Judith Sheindlin while serving as a bailiff in Manhattan.

He wrote her a letter of congratulations after hearing that Judge Sheindlin was going to have her own court show. Sheindlin then called him and invited him to work as her bailiff on the show.

In addition to his work on JUDGE JUDY, Byrd has appeared numerous times on stage as a stand-up comedian and actor. He has also acted in films, television and commercials, as well as provided voiceover work for radio, television and video games. Byrd’s success has also made him a sought-after motivational speaker. In his spare time, he sings and writes music and poetry.
