How did Tommy flanagan the actor get the scars on his face

Tommy Flanagan (born July 3, 1965) grew up in a rough part of Glasgow, Scotland. One night, when leaving a pub, a group of people attacked and tried to rob him. He tried to fight back and was stabbed. From this, he got two facial scars one on each side of his face, known as the Glasgow Grin.

He nearly lost his life, but survived and decided to become an actor. He got his first big break in the 1995 movie Braveheart which starred Mel Gibson. He was one of the stars of the TV series Sons of Anarchy, where he played outlaw biker Chibs Telford.
