What did Katey Sagal get the scar on her chest from?

The Actress Katey Sagal does not have a scar on her chest. The visible scar on her chest while playing Gemma on the FX TV series "Sons of Anarchy" is fake.

It is applied by a makeup artist prior to filming. In the storyline, she received the scar from healing after open heart surgery.

Sagal was born January 19, 1954, in Hollywood, CA. She is perhaps best known for playing Peggy Bundy in "Married with Children" from 1987-1997, but she currently provides voices for Futurama as well as appearing in Sons of Anarchy as Gemma Teller, mother of Jax Teller, and she's has been cast as Lee Ann in romantic comedy "There's Always Woodstock" while SOA is on winter break.
