No, Jim Tom Hedrick from the Discovery Channel show Moonshiners is not dead. Jim Tom has been making moonshine for more than 60 years. He even made it while he was incarcerated in prison.
His recent adventure was in September 2014, he made stops in Marmet and Beckley. Hedrick toured West Virginia signing autographs on his unaged rye, which is part of Sugarlands Shine. His promoters have said it’s Jim Tom’s pursuit of going “legal,” making his brand of shine available to the public for the first time.
Moonshiners follows the lives of people who make moonshine in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The show also features portions of a documentary called This is the Last Dam Run of Likker I'll Ever Make.
