What does the drug called Molly consist of?

"Molly" is pure MDMA (methylenedioxy-N-methamphetamine), a purer form of Ecstasy. While Ecstasy is usually cut with other ingredients, like caffeine, Molly is not.

MDMA is a psychedelic stimulant. Because it energizes and enhances tactile experiences, it is often used to to promote feelings of intimacy and sexuality. The drug comes in colorful tablet form, often with brand names. It may also be distributed in powder and liquid form, although it is less common.

MDMA affects the brain cells that use serotonin and causes euphoria and increased sensitivity. It may also cause anxiety, depression, and confusion. Physical effects of the drug include tremors, muscle tension, increased body temperature, increased heart rate and nausea.

Joe Budden recently spoke out against the use of Molly. The drug has become popular on the hip hop scene and rapper Budden says he nearly died due to using it. He said he went days without sleeping and often had trouble walking. He used it for a whole summer before he was able to kick the habit.
