is operation repo real?

TruTV’s reality series Operation Repo features actual stories from repossession incidents that have taken place in California’s San Fernando Valley. The incidents are scripted, dramatized, and then re-enacted for the camera. Watch for the disclaimer at the beginning of the show that says, “The stories that are portrayed in this program are based on real events. The names of the characters were changed in order to protect their identities… and some honor.” See Operation Repo on Wednesdays at 9PM ET/P.

TruTV says that their theme, “Not reality. Actuality.” is meant to explain to audiences that the shows they film contain “real-life situations” instead of the “contests and other highly staged events” seen in typical reality shows.
