What is the busiest day for movie theaters

According to the National Association of Theater Owners, Thanksgiving is historically the busiest day of the year for movie theaters followed by Dec. 25 (Christmas).

For some, going to the movies on Christmas Day is a family tradition.

According to Forbes, Lionsgate’s Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Disney’s Frozen set some pretty big Thanksgiving box office records, scoring the biggest Thanksgiving weekend ($74.5 million Fri-Sun, $110.2m Wed-Sun) and biggest Thanksgiving debut weekend ($66.7m Fri-Sun, $93.3m Wed-Sun) respectively.
