Wat are the first symptoms of HIV's / AIDS

Not Medical Advice: The initial symptoms of acute HIV infection may include:

  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Fatigue
  • Aching muscles
  • Sore throat
  • Red rash that doesn't itch, usually on the torso
  • Fever

Three stages of HIV infection:

  • Acute infection or seroconversion. It typically occurs within two to six weeks after exposure or becoming infected. This is the time when the body's immune system puts up a fight against HIV.
  • Asymptomatic period. This is when a person may not know they are infected and can pass HIV on to others. This period can last ten or more years.
  • AIDS is the advanced stage of HIV infection. When the CD4 T-cell number drops under 200, people are diagnosed with AIDS.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs offers advice on exercise, diet and nutrition, and alternative therapies for people living with HIV/AIDS.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending that people who are at high-risk of contracting HIV take a daily pill to reduce their chances of being infected. Studies show that Truvada (antiretroviral drug combination) can help reduce rates of infection by more than 90% when taken every day. Find out out more from CNN.
