“NCIS” debuted on CBS in 2003. The show was originally titled “NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service.” Its success led to the spinoff “NCIS: Los Angeles” in 2009. The original “NCIS” was itself a spinoff of the long running series “JAG” which was also a crime based drama focused on the Navy and Marine Corps.
