Not Medical Advice: Before you officially start trying, make sure to get a Pre-Pregnancy Checkup first. This is to make sure that you and your partner don't have any hidden illnesses that could affect your pregnancy or your chances of becoming pregnant.
Here are some tips for getting pregnant faster from WebMD:
- Get to know your cycle.
Ovulation is the best time to get pregnant. Signs of ovulation include the change in your cervical mucus, wherein it usually becomes thin and slippery when you are most fertile. Some women may also feel a one-sided twinge of pain.
You can also check out the Ovulation Calculator here to help you predict your most fertile days of the month.
- Do lay low right after sex.
It's good advice to lay in bed for 10 to 15 minutes after sex, however you don't need your feet in the air. Don't go the bathroom during this time. If you wait 10 to 15 minutes, the spermatozoa that are going to get into the cervix will be in the cervix.
- Don't overdo it.
The best suggestion is to have sex regularly -- when you're ovulating, and when you're not. In general, every other night around the time of ovulation helps increase your chance of getting pregnant.
- Try not to get stressed out about starting a family.
Stress can actually interfere with ovulation. So the more relaxed you are, the better!
And make sure to live a healthy life. Exercising is a healthy habit, especially if it helps keep you at your ideal weight. But just do moderate exercise like brisk walking, two and a half hours each week (or at least 30 minutes, 5 days a week). Too much exercise can cause you not to ovulate.
According to CNN, pregnant women who are overweight or obese have an increased risk of delivering a stillborn baby, according to a new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Find out more here.
