Marilyn Manson announced that he has decided to “part ways” with longtime bassist Jeordie White, also known as Twiggy Ramirez, ahead of the band’s upcoming tour.
“I have decided to part ways with Jeordie White as a member of Marilyn Manson,” the singer tweeted on Tuesday. “He will be replaced for the upcoming tour. I wish him well.” He added on Instagram, “This is a sad day.”
Although Manson did not cite a reason for the split, the news comes four days after Jessicka Addams of the band Jąck Off Jill accused White of rąpe during their relationship in the ’90s.
On Wednesday, White released a statement in response to the allegations.
“I have only recently been made aware of these allegations from over 20 years ago. I do not condone non-consensual sėx of any kind,” he wrote in a statement obtained by Rolling Stone. “I will be taking some time to spend with my family and focus on maintaining my several years of sobriety. If I have caused anyone pain I apologize and truly regret it.”
Addams detailed the alleged abusive relationship on Facebook, writing that she and White started dating when she was just 18. She said his jealousy escalated into physical abuse. Read more at PEOPLE.com.
