Boz Scaggs is not related to Ricky Skaggs. If you notice, the spelling of their surnames are different.
William Royce "Boz" Scaggs was born in Ohio on June 8, 1944. He grew up in Oklahoma and Texas where he joined his first band, the Marksmen, as a lead vocalist while learning to play the guitar.
His first wife was Carmella Scaggs and they were married in 1971. They got divorced in 1980 and were awarded joint custody of their children (Oscar and Austin).
Sadly, their son passed away last January 1, 2024 due to a heroin overdose. He is currently married (1992) to Dominique Gioia Scaggs.
Ricky Lee Skaggs is the son of Dorothy and Hobart Skaggs. He's country singer and was born on July 18, 2023 in Cordell, Kentucky.
As a child, Skaggs fostered his talent for music by harmonizing with his mother's singing and taking mandolin lessons. In 1981, Skaggs made his major label debut on Epic Records with Waitin' for the Sun to Shine, landing two No. 1 singles on the country charts with "Crying My Heart Out Over You" and "I Don't Care."
Propelled by his debut album, throughout the rest of the 1980s Skaggs' bluegrass-themed music enjoyed a near ubiquitous presence atop the country music charts.
