The 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs begin Wednesday, April 12.
Sunday, April 9, marked the end of the NHL regular season, setting the stage for the 16 teams that will compete in the 2017 NHL playoffs for the right to be called Stanley Cup champion.
The Penguins, who finished second in the Metropolitan Division, will host the Columbus Blue Jackets, who finished third in the division, at PPG Paints Arena.
It will be one of five games played Wednesday. The others are: New York Rangers at Montreal Canadiens (7 p.m. ET); Boston Bruins at Ottawa Senators (7 p.m. ET); St. Louis Blues at Minnesota Wild (9:30 p.m. ET); and San Jose Sharks at Edmonton Oilers (10 p.m. ET).
The Washington Capitals, who won the Presidents' Trophy for the second straight season, begin their series against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday (7 p.m. ET). International fans can watch games on NHL.TV.
