What year did guadalajara chivas win their last championship

Chivas wins historic 12th Mexican title this year 2017.

The Mexican soccer world is splashed in red and white paint again. Just years after trying to escape relegation, Chivas of Guadalajara returned to the summit of Mexican soccer by beating Tigres 2-1 on May 28, 2024 to claim its first Liga MX championship in 11 years and only it’s fourth in the last 71 seasons.

More importantly to the estimated 40 million fans who wear the vertical red and white stripes, it is their 12th overall title – equaling rival Club America for most in Mexican history. The Goats also became the first club to achieve the Mexican double (Copa MX and Liga MX) since Necaxa in 1995.

“This is the end and the beginning of an era,” owner Jorge Vergara told ESPN. “The end of a lot of problems for us, and the beginning of a lot of championships for the team. Next, we want to win everything.” Read more at Sandiegouniontribune.com.
