There were several conflicts in the movie Forrest Gump, but Forrest’s main conflict is with Jenny, who was his only friend during his childhood. He is in a perpetual conflict throughout the movie, as he doesn’t know whether to be in love with Jenny or be her friend.
"Forrest Gump," which ran onto the big screen on July 6, 1994, was based on the book written by Mobile native Winston Groom.
Like many movies based on books, the screenplay doesn't follow the book. Writer Eric Roth made the love story primary and Forrest Gump's adventures secondary. Roth also added Gump needing braces as a child and his run across the United States.
In the movie, we saw Forrest, a friendly, simpleminded man, finds himself in the middle of nearly every major event of the 1960s and '70s.
The movie starred Tom Hanks, Robin Wright and Gary Sinise. See full cast & crew at IMDb.
