Age of Empires 4 is the long-awaited sequel to the Age of Empires series. It is a Microsoft-published PC strategy game that follows the events of history across the world. It’s an incredibly detailed real-time strategy (RTS) title with several spin-offs detailing different periods of history.
The first Age of Empires came out in 1997 as a real-time strategy game developed by the now-defunct Ensemble Studios. Players had to guide their troops through the Stone Age to the Classical period, with a follow up in 1999, Age of Empires II, taking the action to the Middle Ages. Age of Empires III was released in 2005, focusing on the colonial period, and adding a number of new game mechanics, and in 2011, the series tried its hand at free-to-play, with Age of Empires Online and its cartoony aesthetic.
MICROSOFT has revealed the launch date of the hotly anticipated Age of Empires remaster, alongside the surprise announcement of Age of Empires 4, a brand new entry to the series.
The game will be developed by Relic Entertainment - a studio with experience in the real-time strategy market thanks to its work on games like Warhammer: 40K Dawn of War and Company of Heroes.
Microsoft currently seems to have marketing material for the game on Windows 10, with no specific mention of the Xbox One family of consoles being mentioned.
This follows the trend of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, which was given a release date of October 19, 2023 at the show. The game will also be coming exclusively to Windows 10. Catch more scoop at Daily Star.
