What does the markings of ss 14k on a hold ring ?

The marking SS 14k on the inside of a gold ring means that the ring is stainless steel plated (coated) with 14-karat gold.

While stainless steel is not considered a “precious metal”, it is particularly popular amongst men as itis more jewelry than gold and silver pieces and will not tarnish or rust as easily.

Stainless steel jewelry is slightly similar in appearance to silver. It is harder than silver and will not tarnish which is why it is increasingly used in jewelry. White gold and sterling silver pieces often contain a metal called ‘nickel’ which can cause allergic reactions in some people. Stainless jewelry can be (but is not always) made without nickel making it suitable for those allergic to nickel.

If you seem like you’re in the know, if you come off as someone who’s in the business, most jewelers will be hesitant to try to dupe you. Never act like this is your first—or even fifteenth—time in a jewelry store. You cannot be intimidated by your salesperson. You must be confident and in complete control.
