What olympic runner, in the 90's, ran so fast his shoes caught on fire?

It could be the athlete Maurice Greene. However, the incident where Maurice Greene's shoes were caught on fire after running so fast was just a staged act of showmanship for the crowd and the television cameras in the Home Depot Track & Field Invitational that took place on 22 May 2004.

The video shows Greene crossed the finish line and quickly pulled off his track shoes so that a waiting aide could dash out to douse them with a fire extinguisher.

"My feet were burning and we had to put the fire out," Greene told reporters. "I've got a lot more fire," he added.
