Hope Solo is of Italian/American descent.
She has an Italian background through her father, Jeffrey, who grew up in the Bronx and was a sometimes-homeless Vietnam War veteran. Her mother, Judy, grew up in the town of Reseda, California.
In 2012, Hope released her autobiography Solo: A Memoir of Hope where the U.S. Women's Soccer goalie discussed her passion for the game and talked about a mother and father who helped her succeed even as they faltered.
