Will the AMC channel ever come back to dish
There’s no word on whether or not 14 million subscribers will ever see AMC, Sundance, IFC, or the WE channel return to the satellite Dish Network. Dish Network claims to have dropped the channels because the rates to carry them became unreasonably high.
AMC says that the channels were actually dropped in response to a 2008 lawsuit where they sued Dish Network for $2.5 billion due to a “breach of contract regarding a distribution agreement”. Dish Network recently lost an appeal over this.
Also dropping channels is satellite television operator DirecTV. They are currently not carrying 26 channels including Comedy Channel, MTV, BET, CMT, VH1, and Nickelodeon citing Viacom’s 30% distribution fee increase equal to $1 billion more than a previous deal. 20 million subscribers are currently being affected.
