Nick Swisher (born Nicholas Thompson Swisher on November 25, 1980 in Columbus, Ohio) said that he lived with his grandparents after his 11th birthday, and credits his grandmother with giving him "a great life and a career in baseball."
Since his grandparents have passed away he looks up at the sky, as if looking to the heavens, to honor his grandparents before every single pitch.
Swisher was on the injured list in late July, but after 8 days off the field due to a strained left hip flexor, he's back in the game.
On August 8, Swisher went 2 for 3, with an RBI and two walks, beating the Tigers 12 to 8.
