That is not a scar, but rather a birthmark that Drew has had since birth. When Drew was born, his mother, Mina, even thought that she may have caused the mark when she had fallen on some ice. She considered surgery to remove the birthmark when Drew was 3, but after doctor’s assured her that it was harmless, she decided not to pursue it.
The birthmark has always brought Drew attention and at times ridicule. His appearance was embraced by his classmates at Purdue, where he played college ball. The student body passed out temporary tattoos during football games so students could sport a birthmark of their own.
In 2012, Drew signed a 5-year, $100 million contract with the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have been off to a bad start for 2012. Their first win of the season didn’t come until week 5 when the Saints beat the Chargers 31-24. That game also marked the 48th game straight where Drew has thrown at least one touchdown pass, making him the all-time leader in this category, surpassing Johnny Unitas.
