Why did Mayte Garcia and Prince get divorced?

Mayte Garcia blamed the divorce on a tragedy. She and Prince had a son in 1996 who was born one month prematurely and diagnosed with a rare disease called Pfeiffer syndrome, which causes the skull to harden earlier than what is considered healthy and compresses the brain. Boy Gregory died a week after birth. Two years later she and Prince drifted apart and divorced in 2000.

On June 27, 2012 Mayte appeared in the premiere of VH1’s new reality series Hollywood Exes with Nicole Murphy (ex-wife of Eddie Murphy), Sheree Fletcher (ex-wife of Will Smith), Jessica Conseco (ex-wife of Jose Canseco), and Andrea Kelly (ex-wife of R. Kelly) .

Mayte is currently auditioning for a dance film starring William Levy, a finalist on a recent season of Dancing with the Stars.
