Sources suggest that Kene Holliday did not voluntarily leave the crime-drama television series Matlock (1986–1995). He missed seven episodes during the third season, because he was away at a rehabilitation clinic for drug and alcohol addiction. After the season ended he was let go from the show and his character Tyler, a private investigator for Ben Matlock was written out of the script as having quit.
After the show he became a Christian evangelist and traveled and spread religious messages through gospel musicals. Kene also took on the role of spokesman for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and kept busy by storytelling, mentoring school groups and attending auditions.
In recent years Kene has stayed out of the media spotlight, sources say he is writing, videographing, and staging the work of Moto Theatre Works, where he is the founding artistic director. He is also linked to Walk on Water Productions.
