There is no report about Kulik and Gordeeva getting a divorce. In a 2012 article, the couple are still together and they opened their own skater rink in Lake Forest, California, a city in Orange County.
Ekaterina Gordeeva was born in 1971 in Russia. Gordeeva’s father wanted her to be a ballerina, however she fell in love with figure skating instead. She began skating at the age of 4, and at the age of 11 Gordeeva was partnered up with Sergei Grinkov.
In 1991 Sergei asked her to marry him. Gordeeva gave birth in September of 1992 to their daughter Daria. However on November 20, 1995 Sergei died of a heart attack while practicing a new program with Gordeeva. She started dating Ilia Kulik the 1998 Men's Olympic champion in 1999 and they were married June 10, 2002 and she gave birth to a second daughter on June 15, 2001.
The Olympic fun for figure skating fans starts with a new event: The team competition. Inspired partially from Olympic gymnastics and partially from popular made-for-TV professional competitions of the ’90s, team figure skating has the potential to change the psychological dynamics of skating at the Winter Games.
