Why are people boycotting Chick-fil-A?
Some people are boycotting the fast-food chain Chick-fil-A as the company has donated millions of dollars to charities that support the belief that marriage is only between a man and a woman. These charities include Exodus International, the Marriage and Family Foundation and the Family Research Council.
Chick-fil-A’s president, Dan Cathy, affirmed in an interview with the Baptist Press that the company supports the “Biblical definition of the family unit.”
While individuals that are in favor of same-sex marriage are boycotting Chick-fil-A, Mike Huckabee, a former Republican presidential candidate, announced that Wednesday August 1, 2012, was Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, which allowed those that support Chick-fil-A’s views an opportunity to show their support.
Chick-fil-A’s Christian values can also be seen in its operations, as the company does not allow its stores to be open on Sundays.
