Juan Manuel Marquez and Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao have fought four times already; they first met in the ring on May 8, 2004 wherein Pacquiao has a career record of 38-2-1 while Marquez entered with a record of 42-2-0, putting his WBA and IBF featherweight belts on the line. It was a tough fight and after 12 rounds the match has resulted into draw.
Nearly 4 years after the controversial match in 2004, they met in the ring again on March 15, 2008; it was just as even as their previous meeting however Pacquiao knocked down Marquez in the third round.
The third fight was on Nov. 12, 2011 where Pacquiao got his second win against Marquez with an improved 54-3-2 overall while Marquez fell to 53-6-1 overall.
The last one took place on Dec. 8, 2012 where Marquez knocked out Pacquiao in the sixth round of their welterweight bout match in Las Vegas.
Of interest, a fifth fight might be able to happen, as the match is already on the drawing board, and is being shopped around to casinos by Top Rank. However, it could become a certainty if both fighters win their upcoming fights. Juan Manuel Marquez against Timothy Bradley Jr. on Oct. 12 and Manny Pacquiao against Brandon Rios on Nov. 23.
