Who is the queen played by in Snow White & The Huntsman

Charlize Theron plays the part of Queen Ravenna, Snow White’s evil stepmother in Rupert Sanders’ feature film, Snow White and the Huntsman. She had to drop out of Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar in order to fulfill the role.

Theron’s costumes were created by nine-time Oscar nominee and three-time winner costume designer Colleen Atwood using thousands of iridescent beetle wings from Thailand and hundreds of hand-cut rooster feathers.

In an interview Theron had this to say about Queen Ravenna, “At first, I didn’t really understand why she was evil or losing her mind, but once I understood that it wasn’t just the fact that her mortality relied upon finding Snow White, and that knowing that and not being able to do anything and being stuck in a castle…Well, I think that would be maddening for somebody like her.”
