Kia Motors Corporation, headquartered in Seoul, is a division of the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group. Founded in 1944, Kia is South Korea's oldest car company. They opened their first integrated automotive assembly plant in 1973 and now have 13 manufacturing and assembly operations in eight countries, including one in Georgia. Today, Kia has over 42,000 employees worldwide, with annual revenues of over $14.6 billion.
Recently, there have been numerous strikes by Kia's union workers in an attempt to gain higher wages and an end to night shifts. This could cause a heavy blow to the companies' third-quarter earnings.
