Where is the kentucky derby located?

The Kentucky Derby takes place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The racetrack is located just south of downtown Louisville, about 1 mile south of the University of Louisville and 1 mile west of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. It's very close to Route 60 and Route 1020. Interstate 264 and Interstate 65 are also nearby.

Women tend to wear pastel-colored suits, bold separates, dresses, and heels. Many also sport matching hats. Men traditionally wear light-colored sport coats or navy sport coats, seersucker suits, dress pants or nice khakis, fashionable ties and light-colored shirts.

The 139th Kentucky Derby took place on May 4, 2013 with three-year-old Orb taking the win. His owner Shug McGaughey says he should be at the the Preakness Stakes on May 18 and the Belmont Stakes on June 8.

Of interest, some Kentucky Derby fans paid $1,000 for a Mint Julep, the "the traditional beverage of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby". Bourbon maker Woodford Reserve sold them in order to raise funds for Old Friends, a facility for retired racehorses. The drink was served in a sterling silver cup engraved with the date of this year’s Derby.
