As an organic compound, Acetone is also produced in the human body. It can be detected in bodily fluids including blood and urine.

Acetone is used industrially to make plastics, acrylics and epoxies among many other products. It is used both industrially and commercially as a cleaning agent. In the home it can be found in products like rubber cement and finger nail polish remover.

Acetone is comparatively very low in toxicity. However, prolonged skin contact should be avoided as should prolonged inhalation of high concentrations. It should also be noted that acetone is highly flammable and may contain small amounts of toxic impurities including benzene and acetaldehyde.
