Likely the largest Great White Shark recorded was caught and weighed in Seven Star Lake, Hualien County, Taiwan.
The shark was caught on May 14, 1997, and weighed a mind bending 2,500kg (over 5,511 pounds!).
Its length has conflicting measurements, but was somewhere between 6.7 and 7.0 meters long (that's roughly between 22 and 23 feet!)
We can almost hear echoes of Roy Scheider now ... "You're gonna need a bigger boat."
If you're looking for lots of shark information and videos, check out the Discovery Channel this week; it's Shark Week on the network, and they kicked it off on Sunday with a special MythBusters episode called the Mythbusters' Jawsome Shark Special.
