Whats the dogs name from the sandlot?

In the movie The Sandlot, a group of young teenage boys must face the scariest thing in the world; well, maybe 2nd scariest after young teenage girls - that’s the dog they refer to as “The Beast.” They later find out his name is Hercules.

This movie is a coming-of-age comedy/drama about a group of kids in 1962 that just want to play baseball. In the last days of modern-American innocence they have but one true foe: The Beast. “The Beast” is a very fitting name considering he is a 300lb. English Mastiff. He is very territorial and roams the backyard that lines up perfectly with where a homerun ball should land for the kids playing in the adjacent sandlot.

As the movie progresses, a new kid becomes part of the team, the dog is “humanized” a bit, and the old curmudgeon that owns the dog and the backyard to which so many balls have been lost turns out to be a real human being with which the kids can identify. And—spoiler alert—a prized Babe Ruth autographed ball is mangled.

In May 2012, a similarly autographed ball was auctioned for $21,000. Hopefully this one won’t be near any English Mastiffs.
