Whatever happened to johnny crawford that play on rifleman?
Johnny Crawford (born John Ernest Crawford on March 26, 1946 in Los Angeles, California) who played Mark McCain in the TV series “The Rifleman” (1958-1963) has appeared in 61 TV series and films.
He has led the Johnny Crawford Orchestra since 1992. The orchestra’s 1st album, “Sweepin’ the Clouds Away,” featured 15 authentic band orchestrations from the 1920s and 1930s, and Crawford provided the vocals. It was released on August 5, 2008.
He stopped acting for film and TV in 1999: his final role at that time was as a singer in The Thirteenth Floor. As a singer his last work in Hollywood was in 2004 when he performed Easy Come, Easy Go in Hellboy. His last appearance on television wasn't that long ago, though, he appeared as himself in 2011 on the TV mini-series Pioneers of Television.
He's also still doing live shows; in fact just a few weeks ago he performed at Chowder Hal in Tucson Arizona in The 1017 Club: A 1930s Revue. Crawford headlined, leading the orchestra through a series of 1930s songs taken from the University of Arizona Jazz Archives in the second half of the show.
