What year in the 1960s does season 1 of Mad Men take place?
In 2007 AMC began airing an original series based in New York City called Mad Men. The series immediately gained popularity among viewers and critics alike. Jon Hamm stars in the leading role of advertising executive Don Draper. The storyline starts in 1960 with the world of advertising changing along with the world in general.
Season 2 begins in March 1962 and ends in October of that year. The third season begins in the late spring of 1963 and runs through December 1963. The fourth season starts up in November of 1964 and runs through October 1965. Season five follows Memorial Day 1966 through the spring of 1967.
Season 6 recently launched with the two-hour premiere episode The Doorway skipping ahead to December 1967 and ending on the morning of New Year's Day, 1968. Thirteen episodes have been filmed for the season.
Of interest, writers from Mad Men have announced that they are working on a TV series called Cocoa Beach, which is about the country's space program in the 1960s and the journalists who reported on it. The series could debut as early as fall 2013.
