What will happen if a dog eats chocolate?
Theobromine is the ingredient in chocolate that is harmful to dogs, increasing urination and causing damage to the heart and central nervous system. How much is harmful to your pooch? With white chocolate, 200oz per pound of dog's weight can be deadly. Milk chocolate only takes 1oz per pound. Sweet cocoa only takes 0.3oz, and baking chocolate just takes 0.1oz. A one ounce square of baking chocolate will kill a 10 pound dog. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, hyperactivity, seizures, and death.
