What was singer sade's reason for going to jail?

Sade was never jailed, however she was arrested in February of 1997 when she failed to pull over for police in Jamaica.

Some months later (after failing to appear in court to face those charges) an arrest warrant was issued. The warrant was eventually "stayed," when she was able to prove that her child was in the hospital, making it impossible for her to attend the hearing.

Born Helen Folasade Adu on January 16, 1959, in Ibadan, Nigeria, Sade was raised in London. In the early 1980s, she signed with Epic Records and recorded her first album, Diamond Life, in 1984.

A huge hit thanks to such singles as 'Smooth Operator,' the album won Sade a Best New Artist Grammy, and her subsequent multi-platinum albums established Sade as a top-selling soul and pop artist.
