What is the sunken ship's name in galveston bay? And what was it used for?
The sunken ship in Galveston Bay is the Denbigh. The screw-propelled iron hulled steamer was a Confederate blockade runner. While most runners averaged only 4 trips through a blockade, the Denbigh ran more than 26 trips before being sunk. Six weeks after the Confederacy surrendered, blockading Union ships sunk the steamer near Bolivar Point on May 23, 1865.
