What is the reason for Chyler Leigh leaving Grey's Anatomy?

The season 8 finale of “Grey’s Anatomy” saw the death of Lexie Grey played by Chyler Leigh. The speculation is that Leigh wanted to leave the show to spend more time with her family.

Show creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes said Leigh’s departure from the show was a decision they made together. Rhimes said she looks forward to working with Leigh in the future, so it can be assumed that her exit was amicable.
