Parents in Illinois are currently suing the state because of cuts to Medicaid. One lawsuit claims the changes coming in September 2012 would force children into institutions for medical care and out of their homes. Governor Pat Quinn says the state’s Medicaid program faced a $2.7 billion budget gap. Without reforms the deficit may have reached $21 billion by 2017.
