Filing a false police report in North Carolina really isn't something you want to do!

The law in NC states in part that anyone that makes any false, deliberately misleading or unfounded report to an officer or law enforcement agency is guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor.

A class 2 misdemeanor is punishable by no less than 30 days imprisonment, and up to 6 months!

When you make a police report you want to be sure to give an accurate accounting to the best of your ability, and not make any false statements.
