The term “sexual napalm” was made popular by John Mayer in a Playboy interview when he described ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson as sexual napalm. Within its context, he was explaining that he was sexually addicted to Simpson, in a potentially destructive fashion. He said he was willing to give up his way of thinking and being just to be with her. He even compared it to being addicted to drugs.
In a recent interview on the NPR program All Things Considered, Mayer stated that he regretted those statements, as well as others, that he had made 2 years earlier. He said he realizes now that he was trying too hard to not look boring.
Mayer has released a new album, Born and Raised. Critics are giving it positive reviews while fans digest Mayer’s more mature California Rock style.
