What is the Dukan diet?

The Dukan diet has 4 phases and is high in protein and low in calories. You can eat protein and oats in all 4 phases, as well as drink lots of water and take a 20-minute walk every day. In the 1st phase only protein is allowed (lose 7 pounds in 5 days). In the 2nd phase you add vegetables to your diet (lose 2 pounds a week). Fruits and grains are added in the phase thereafter. The last phase (stabilization) requires you to consistently follow portions of the other phases in order to prevent weight regain.
