What is the dimensions of the average shoe box

There are several standard sizes for shoe boxes:

Since shoe boxes are fairly small, the term shoebox is often used to describe a small space. On September 26, 2012 Today Online reported that San Francisco law makers decided to postpone a vote that would allow for "shoebox apartments" in the city.

The new regulations, if passed, would allow for apartments as small as 220 square feet. These downsized apartments might rent for as little as $1,200 per month rather than the more than $2,000 per month a studio apartment currently rents for in the city.
