What is plastic made out of?
There are many types of plastics, but they generally come from ethylene and propylene which are derived from the raw materials of crude oil and natural gas. Some plastics are also made with cellulose acetate, polylactic acid from corn or cellulosics from cotton linters. Various additives are also used to affect color, melt flow and other physical characteristics.
