What is Exodus 23:1?

Exodus 23:1 “Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness.”

From the King James Bible, it is “Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.”

The 23rd Chapter is in a section of Exodus immediately following the presentation of the Ten Commandments. In these chapters, God instructs Moses (Exodus 21:1) “These are the laws you are to set before them.” “Them” refers to the Israelites Moses is leading.

The beginning of Chapter 23 specifically deals with laws about being truthful in the treatment of everyone including the poor, foreigners and enemies.

Rap artist Pusha T has released a single titled “Exodus 23:1”. In the song he calls out a group of other rappers including Lil Wayne and Drake. Lil Wayne responded via Twitter. Pusha T and Lil Wayne have had beefs in the past, but everything had seemed to quiet down until now.
