Today, Barbara Mandrell is active at church, continues to spend her time with family and friends and has slowly recovered from an intense fear of driving to live a normal life.
In her spare time, Mandrell can be found gardening, visiting friends, taking care of her home and family and enjoying a slower pace of life since retirement. She often says, “I have so much to do, I don’t know when I found time to work.”
Barbara Mandrell surprised fans when she made an impromptu appearance at The Opry on May 18, 2013, waving and taking a bow. She was also seen on the red carpet prior to the screening of INSPIRATION POP 2929 in Nashville, TN on May 7, 2013, looking gorgeous with her sisters. It is generally known that she does not perform any longer.
After the induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009, she made a rare appearance at The Tribute to George Jones Nashville concert, which was held on Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Bridgestone Arena. This was to celebrate the late George Jones’ 50th year career in the industry.
In January 2014, Barbara was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame.
In 2015, Barbara and sisters Louise and Irlene hosted the annual Unleashed fundraiser for the Nashville Humane Association, which they called "A Family Affair".
