What household item can you wash your dog with?

Not Medical Advice: Veterinarians do not recommend that dogs be washed with shampoo made specifically for humans. Many homemade shampoos are veterinary-recommended.

Homemade Dog Shampoo Recipe #1:

1 pint of liquid dish soap (Dawn, Ivory, Dove)
4 ounces of glycerine (can be found at any pharmacy)
1 pint of water
1 pint of apple cider vinegar

Mix together well and store in an empty shampoo bottle or hand soap container.

Dish soap will clean, glycerine will serve as a humectant and an emollient, and vinegar will remove odor and boost shine.

Homemade Dog Shampoo Recipe #2:

1 cup oatmeal ground to a flour consistency via blender
1 cup baking soda
1 quart warm water

Mix together well and store in an empty shampoo bottle in the refrigerator.

Test both shampoos on a small patch of fur and skin to make sure your dog doesn't have an allergic reaction.
