In one of the episodes of Hardcore Pawn, the manager, Les Gold got physically ill and was rushed to the hospital. Les had surgery for a hernia.
Les Gold is a third-generation pawnbroker and the enigmatic head of American Jewelry and Loan. His family first opened up Sam's Loan on Michigan Ave. and Wabash in the beginning of 1940s. His father worked his way into the store. His jewelry shop is a 50,000-square-foot store and the manager to more than 45 employees.
